Lincoln: The Constitution & the Civil War
Traveling Exhibition Opening Reception The United States is celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War from 2011 - 2014. We are delighted to have been chosen to host the traveling exhibition "Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War" which examines how President Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three crises of the Civil War; the secession of Southern states, slavery, and wartime civil liberties. This exhibition is composed of informative panels featuring reproductions of original documents, including a draft of Lincoln's first inaugural speech, the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment. 
Lincoln's Presidency and the Constitution Theatrical Reenactment Join reenactors Fred and Bonnie Priebe as President and Mrs. Lincoln present a first person account of the leadership qualities he used during the Civil War as president. Many stories and much humor are included in this educational and fun presentation. Lincoln, Slavery, and the Problem of Emancipation Luke E. Harlow, Professor of History at Oakland University, will explore Abraham Lincoln's evolving opinion on the slavery question over the course of the Civil War. Register Online.

Orion Township in the Great Depression w/ Local Author Robert Lytle Local author Robert Lytle has written eight books for young people, including the recently published Mr. Blair's Labyrinth, based on his historic Orion Township home and its original owner.
