WHO WE ARE....An active, non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to
preserving and supporting our local state park in northern Oakland County. That's a
wood duck in our logo, second most common duck in our park after the mallard.
WHAT WE DO....We hold monthly programs open to the public on subjects
related to nature, publish a quarterly newsletter,The Trail Marker and work
on projects in Bald Mountain Recreation Area, our local state park.
WHAT'S NEW...We just completed our spring clean up of the park with the help
of several local businesses and lots of volunteers. We are building a new hiking trail
called the William N. Rathburg Memorial Trail named after the first park manager here.
Handicapped accessible. We have built birdhouse kits for bluebirds and wood ducks for
donation and use in the park using a grant from the state Wildlife Fund. We supported the
local effort to name Greenshield Road a Natural Beauty Road in Orion Township. And
more!
