How to Help
  • Kroger Rewards: Sign up for Kroger Rewards - our number is 84910. You must re-enroll every year around April.

  • Formula Drive: God’s Helping Hands has a need and we are asking you to help fill it.  Programs like WIC have, due to their own cutbacks, lessened the amount of assistance that they are giving to the families.  This is leaving many families with difficult choices, they have to feed their baby, but what other necessities do they have to give up to feed their young ones?   In an effort to combat this problem, GHH is having a Formula Drive.  We are requesting donations of baby formula of all types for infants from zero to toddler.  Similar, Enfamil, Good Start or store brands are some examples of the types available. The formula drive is continuing for the rest of 2008, due to the high numbers of families we are assisting with young children.  This is a need that we should fill year round. Your donations can be delivered to GHH during open hours.  Should you have any questions please contact the GHH office.

  • Used Computers for Families in Need - If you have an old computer, working or not, that you no longer want collecting dust, you can donate it to God's Helping Hands. We have a volunteer who will fix the computer so that we can give it to a family in need. If we are unable to fix the computer, we will sell the parts so that we can purchase more food.

  • Pop Can Drive: Donate pop cans and bottles at the GHH facility.

  • Volunteer Your Time: Give an hour to GHH - young & younger, tall & small - volunteers, we want them all! We especially need volunteers during open hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Read about the volunteer of the month...

  • Change Cans: Take a change can and fill it with change or bills. When it is full, bring it back

  • M&M's Containers: Take a container of M&Ms and eat the candy. Afterwards fill it with quarters, which will equal $14. Bring it back when full.

  • Eat at the God's Helping Hands Cafe. Cost is a donation for members and absolutely free for guests.

  • Ink Cartridges: GHH has launched a fundraising project, Empties4Cash, with the help of a local recycling company. Empty ink cartridges can be recycled and remanufactured. Our facility will receive $2.00 for each cartridge turned in. You Can Help! Any cartridge with a print head can be recycled, regardless of brand or type. Do you have an HP, Lexmark, Xerox, Compaq, Samsung, Kodak, Canon, or Apple printer? Bring in your empty cartridges (please put in ziplock bag to avoid ink spills) marked to God's Helping Hands. You can give them to Brian or Lisa, or you can place them in the donation shed marked recyclable. You can also bring them in to the God's Helping Hands facility.

  • Donate Your Car to Charity Motors: If you have an extra vehicle you have been considering donating, please call Charity Motors Car Donation Program at (313) 255-1000. Tell them you want to donate your vehicle and designate the proceeds to God's Helping Hands. You will receive a tax deduction while helping our ministry!

  • Community Rewards: Sign up for the Community Rewards at Meijers for GHH to receive a percentage of the money.

  • $ Money Donations $: Money you choose to donate to GHH can be used to purchase food. Our food costs have risen tremendously since April and the money donated can be used to continue to purchase food for our families. Make your donation in memory of a loved one. Now that we have moved to a bigger location, we are helping even more people. Please consider donating money in addition to clothing and other items. Thank you.

  • Donations - please make your donations throughout the entire year.  Rules for Donating

In order to sort through and stock donations quicker, we need your help:

    • Please consider the weight of the bags and boxes when donating. We have many different volunteers who may be lifting them and some have been injured. We cannot afford to lose our volunteers due to injury. Thank you!

    • Please Sort & Label Donations: Thanks to everyone who has started using this new procedure - it has been a tremendous help in the sorting process. Please continue to sort donated clothing based on the size and gender with each matching category taped together using MASKING TAPE. Remember to label clothing by gender, size & category. (EXAMPLE: Men's Large Short-Sleeve Shirts, Size ___.) Please note that masking tape will not harm the clothes.

    • When bringing your donations to God's Helping Hands, please bring them during our open hours. Please do not leave donations outside. If the weather damages them, they will be discarded.

    • There is a donation trailer at Rochester Church of Christ where you may leave small items.

Again, thank you for all the donations - we are truly blessed by your generosity!

  • Furniture & Large Appliances: If you want to donate furniture or large appliances, please call the Furniture Bank of Oakland County, (248) 332-1300. God's Helping Hands does not take furniture and large applicance donations because we are unable to arrange deliveries or store these donations.

  • ACO Hardware Coupon Items - ACO stores have a weekly flyer that comes out with a 10¢ coupon good for items like screwdrivers, tape measurers, etc. if you've ever wanted to help get items, but aren't sure what to purchase, here you go! These items would make great gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, stocking stuffers, or even personal care items on Focus Saturdays at GHH. So next time you're in ACO and you want to pick up a little something to donate to GHH, you could use the coupon for that.
