Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join LOCIN?
    LOCIN is open to any non-profit organization serving the Orion area.   LOCIN is also available to some for-profit companies that provide family services such as child care or subsidized housing.

What are the benefits of joining LOCIN?
  
There are two major benefits of joining LOCIN.  First, you will benefit from an additional outlet to advertise the services offered by your organization.  Second, LOCIN provides an additional way to attract volunteers and contributors to your cause.

What type of participation options are offered?
    Linking - If your organization has an existing site, we will   cross reference it in our service directory.  Your  listing will include any of the following that you supply to us:  Organization name, address, phone number, description, logo, and a link to your existing site.

    Hosting - If your organization does not have an existing web page, you may create one on the LOCIN web-server free of charge.  LOCIN also provides free Microsoft FrontPage98 training.  Once completed, a link to your site will be included with your listing in our service directory.

    Listing - If your organization does not have an existing web page and does not have the staff to create one, supply us with the organization name, address, phone number, description and logo, and we will include it in our service directory.

    Calendar - When the community calendar feature is added to the LOCIN site, all participants will have the ability to enter event dates and descriptions.

I don't know how to create a web page, do you provide training?
    LOCIN will schedule periodic free training classes in Microsoft FrontPage98.

Do I have to pay a fee to put my group's web page on the LOCIN server?
  
Web pages are free to qualified participants.

Is there a restriction on the number of pages I can build into my site on the LOCIN server?
  
There are currently no size restrictions placed on web pages.   If server space becomes an issue, restrictions may be set at a future time.

How will I access my page when I need to make changes?
  
Access will be provided through username/password authenticated accounts through an ftp server and FrontPage98.

What are the terms of participation?
   
Those organizations choosing to create web pages on the LOCIN server will be required to sign a participation agreement. 

I don't have the staff required to maintain a web page, can I still participate?
   If your organization does not have an existing web page and does not have the staff to create one, supply us with the organization name, address, phone number, description and logo, and we will include it in our service directory.

My organization maintains a web-site on our own (or some other) server, will you link to our site?
   
If your organization has an existing site we will  cross reference it in our service directory.  Your  listing will include any of the following that you supply to us:  Organization name, address, phone number, description, logo, and a link to your existing site.
