Letters & Notes
A Note from Miss
Becky…Another
Winterfest has come and gone. It was a great time for all of us and the
fellowship was great. I would like to personally thank the congregation
for your support with money, prayers, kind words, and anything you have
done to make this trip possible. We have incredible young people;
they truly represented Christ living in their lives this weekend. A
special thanks to Todd, Elliott, Kourtney, Amy, Randa, Lori and Andy
(thanks Bethany for sharing him) who took time from their busy schedules
to be great examples and loving mentors. Frank, Trish, Luke and
Josh thank you for spending your weekend with us, you made it special.
Thanks Randy for being our fearless leader and taking time from your
family. Thanks for the memories and especially the honor you bestowed on
me by the foot washing. As our wonderful Julie says,
"As
always, I love you guys." 3-8-09
Dear Lake Orion
Family, Thank you so much for the care
package, it really came in handy during my exams! I appreciated
it a lot, and thank you for thinking of me, that means a lot to me.
Thank you very much everyone who contributed to it. Love, Jake Cockerhan

Dear brothers & sisters at Lake Orion:
First of all, I miss you all and think of you often, even as I am
incredibly busy in my new work. Tings are going very well and twelve
young people have been baptized in the first three weeks of our summer
camp sessions. 110 have been baptized in the last three years. About 800
campers are a part of our regular summer sessions and it takes about
450-500 total volunteer staff to make it happen. People love camp so
that is not a problem to get staff. I have two grandchildren here in
camp this week. Janet is visiting, so she spoils the other grandkids
while I work! I wanted to say that there is no place quite like the Lake
Orion church. The dedication there to do God's work in the community is
a wonderful thing and not seen in many places. Each Sunday I speak at a
different church in this area. I always ask them the questions that
Garth used to ask us from the pulpit. "Does anyone in the community know
you are here? If you closed tomorrow would anyone care?" I tell them
that over the years Lake Orion started doing the GO Groups, Hands of the
Master, and Mission Possible, along with doing God's Helping Hands. I
tell them that the community would truly miss you now if you should
close. That always makes a big impact on the people I share it with as
they had not stopped to think about it. Maybe we'll get some "GO Groups"
started around here! The churches are few and small in this area. Lake
Orion would be considered a big church in this area, so it is a mission
field. Thank you to all who have faithfully mowed the Edwards' yard
while we are having no traffic in selling our home. We have lowered the
price four times and still are getting no people through, much less
offers. I am living in a little one bedroom RV at camp while we try to
sell our home. I'm ready for something bigger! Have a great Mission
Possible! Love in Christ, Doug Edwards. 7-20-08
A note from Elsa Springer: Everyone
welcomed me so warmly and sent me on to Pepperdine very encouraged, to say
nothing of making the whole trip financially possible. I'd like to let the
congregation know that I appreciate the love they show me very much. Thank
you.
A Special Thank You:
Dear Youth Group, Thank you so much for coming to clean the flower beds and
cut the grass. The porches look so nice all cleaned up. We have had a lot
of compliments! We cannot do these things ourselves so we deeply appreciate
your service to us. May the Lord bless you abundantly! Love, Mike and
Phyllis Klenk. August 2007
Special
thanks:
With special thanks
to all of you. To know you is to know people who are kind,
considerate, and
thoughtful. To know you is to be grateful for the special things you
do. Thank you seems too superficial to express the gratitude for all
you have done for my mother. Even though she has only used the ramp a
few times, those times were great. She was so happy to be able to
attend services the couple of times she did, and she was so proud of herself
for being able to walk up and down the ramp without assistance. Thank
you also for the cards, gifts, and visits and prayers. I know she is
so happy to know how many have been praying for her. Please continue
to keep her in your prayers as she goes through the chemotherapy. You
all are such an encouragement to us both and I know God has blessed us
deeply with you as our Christian family. With love, Sherry (and
Frances too). June 2007
Thank You to Hands of the Master -
Thank you for the new tile floor you installed in my basement.
The Vearas sent this email to share with each of
you: “Donna and I put Jason into the very capable hands
of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Monday morning. We got to visit with
him for about ten minutes Monday afternoon following their oath of
office. He was tired, but in very good spirits. We won’t hear from him
over the summer, but he can receive mail and packages. “ You can get
Jason's address at the building. Let's encourage him with notes as he
makes this major transition.
Many thanks. Thank you so much for the wonderful lunch that was prepared for the Biskner family following the service for Gary’s mother. - Gail and Gary - June 2006 We would like to express our sincere thanks for all the thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. We would also like to thank the ladies for the wonderful luncheon that was served after Mom’s memorial service. Lenzie and Suzette Waggoner - June 2006 Dear Mr. Biskner & Lake Orion Church of Christ, My name is Becky Case and I am a friend of Jeff and Sherry Miller’s. On the night before Christmas Eve, they delivered bags and bags of groceries to us from your loving church and I just want to tell you how very much I appreciate your thoughtfulness and your warm generosity. I was humbled and deeply touched by such a beautiful gesture toward our family. As I went through each grocery sack, my heart was filled with such awe and gratitude at the loving kindness of you and your entire church family. What a blessing you have been to us! Words cannot express the appreciation that we have in our hearts for everyone who went out of their way and sacrificed their time and finances (both every precious commodities, especially at this time of year!) in order to reach out to our family like this. You have been more than a blessing...you have been the outstretched hand of God to us personally and we will never forget you or your tender outpouring of love to us. May the Lord very richly bless each one of you and I pray that you will have a blessed New Year. In His Love, Becky Case and Family - December 2005 Dear Lake Orion C of C Family, Thank you so very much for the beautiful flower arrangement that you sent to my father’s funeral. It was a visible reminder that me, Adam, and Aaron were being held up in prayer as we mourned the death of my father. Thank you so very much for all of your support. Love, Sharon, Adam and Aaron Heskitt - November 2005 Dear Friends at the Lake Orion Church - Thank you so much for sending such a generous gift. The past couple of months have been a particularly challenging time and I appreciate so much your willingness to help. I was able to purchase a ticket home for Thanksgiving with half of it, so I look forward to meeting Eden’s church family then! The other half went toward a used car, so I am now better positioned to find permanent employment in the Dallas area. Thank you again for taking to heart Jesus’ admonition to feed and clothe and visit His children. God Bless You, Lisa Swanson (address/phone number available from Elizabeth Barr) - November 2005 To the Lake Orion Church: The cards and the one everyone signed - they were all so special to me. I love you all. - Wilma Darnall - November 2005 Dear Lake Orion Church Family, Thank you to all the ladies who come to my baby shower and made it so special. I would especially like to thank Niki Kirkpatrick , Sara Nelms, Blanche Meloche, Carol Thompson, and Janet Edwards for all their hard work. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this family in Christ. - Lori Wood - November 2005 I wanted to thank everyone for their support over the short time we've been with you. You truly are a blessing and just like family. I am leaving for Colorado on Friday morning and will have a nice long drive. Amanda will need some help though. I have most of the house packed up and ready to be loaded onto a truck that is coming in the morning, Wednesday, 11-2-05, and will be at our house until the night of 11-3-05. If anyone can come by and help her pack the truck that would be great. Just call Amanda to make sure that she'll have things available like the truck or to make sure her ride to Colorado hasn't left. Again, thank you so much, Brian Stroh. - October 30, 2005 Dear Lake Orion Family in Christ, Thank you for the beautiful floral arrangement as an expression of your sympathy at Mom's passing. Thank you also for your cards and prayers and to the many of you who made the long drive to "be there" for us. In Christian love, Nancy & Don Christenberry. - October 30, 2005 Thank you for the prayers for Virginia Freeland (Carol Van Hooser’s mother). The surgery was successful and she is completely healed from the procedures. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. - September 2005 Thank you so much for the crib mattress and sheets. It was truly needed and appreciated. We thank God daily for our church family. - Karen and Dustin Bell, July 2005 Thank You to everyone who helped with setup up and take down for this past weekend’s wedding. Also, thank you to everyone who was in attendance and shared in our joy. - Frank & Linda Willyard, April 2005 Thank you for the continued love and encouragement we have felt here at Lake Orion. - Sharon, Adam & Aaron Heskitt, April 2005 Thank you for the card that expressed all the love and support there is for our family here at Lake Orion Church of Christ. - Sharon Heskitt, March 2005 Nick Godwin would like to thank everyone at Lake Orion for their love, support, and encouragement over the past several weeks. Please continue to lift Nick and the Kirkpatricks up in prayer. February 2005 Hello friends & family, Just wanted to take a minute and give you our new address. We have been pretty busy ever since we first decided to look for another house. This one turned up and it is perfect for us. It is real open and when Carl has to use the wheelchair full-time, he will have room to get around. Just before we found the house I started a new job. At that time, we lived 65 miles from there. Now it is about 35 miles. Wouldn't be so bad, but there is only one main road to Charleston, and it is pretty busy. The other great thing that happened was that Ted and Diane looked at the house next door that has been on the market for a while and never sold. They decided to put their house on the market and see what would happen. It sold in nine days, so they moved in next door. All this moving takes up a lot of time. If I don't have a chance before the holidays, I want to wish a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Love to you all, Mary & Carl (New addresses for Carl & Mary Behrick, and Ted & Diane Behrick, are in the printed bulletin.) Dear Congregation, Because you’ve all been very nice In such a thoughtful way, There’s real appreciation In each thought of you today, And with each thought this message brings Come special wishes, too, That all that’s best and happiest Will come to all of you. Thanks to every one who all have been so kind. Love and Prayers to all of you, Hagar Fallis - God Bless all of you. 11/04 Dear Brothers & Sisters at Lake Orion, Thank you for your many cards, flowers, calls and prayers. Your expressions of love for our family mean so much to us. We thank and praise God for you. May He bless you so richly. Love, Ron, Betty, Robert & John Losher. 9/04 To Our Lake Orion Church Family - Many thanks for all the cards, calls and prayers during our time of need. You are all a true blessing from God. In Christian Love, George, Holly, Alyssa & Zack Diehl. 7/04 Dear Brothers & Sisters - Thank you for your generous on-going support for our Bible Department. Your funds are matched by an anonymous foundation which actually doubles your gift. I cannot express how encouraging you gift is to all of us at the college. God Bless! Mike. 7/04 Dear Lake Orion Church, Words can't express how much we appreciate your prayers, visits, cards and the beautiful flowers. We know God's grace is sufficient for all his children's needs. Our Love to All of you, Betty & Ron Losher. 6/04 Dear Lake Orion Family, Thank you so much for the support and encouragement you have been to our Uganda team. You are truly a giving church; not just monetary but with your love and friendliness toward others wishing to share the gospel. It was a great example to our group and to other churches when we had a need and Lake Orion responded way beyond our expectations! We love you all and you will be in our thoughts and prayers as we know we will be in yours. Love in Christ, Your brothers and sisters on the RC Uganda Team. 6/04 Yard Sale - Thank you very much for your generosity in donating all your items to the yard sale. It was a huge success. The teens raised $2,239.00. Many people helped in donating items, advertising, setting up, pricing, running the sale, and packing it up. All the help made the fundraiser possible and successful. Three van loads of stuff was taken to Trudy's, and there will be another sale there June 17-19, 2004. Again, thank you all for your help! 6/04 Dear Brethren, We were very happy to have the Borchers family, or "a piece of the Lake Orion Church" in Bremen! We enjoyed to see some pictures of you and we were happy about what they told from you. We appreciate you presents and thank you very much for the pictures. It shows your love and thoughtfulness for us in Bremen. We also again thank you that you support the Springer's work. We will try to have more contact to you in the future. In Jesus love, your sisters and brothers in Bremen. 6/04 Dear Church, Edward and I would like to thank our Lake Orion family for all the Love and Concern shown to both of us during our long period of illness. All of those hospital visits, the flowers, phone calls, the dinners that were prepared and shared with us - I could go on and on, but the PRAYERS especially. They are what really got us by. Please continue to pray for us. We have a long way to go. Our Elders have been wonderful - each and every one of them! Thank you so much, In Christian Love, Ed & Joyce Moser. 4/04
