Due to storms or other emergencies, it may be necessary to close the Senior Center. On bad weather days please call first before coming in. If Lake Orion Community Schools are closed, the Senior Center will also be closed.

If you are going to have lunch at the Senior Center, please call (248) 693-7709 by 10:00 a.m. the day before so your meal can be reserved (to eat lunch with us on Mondays, call by 10:00 a.m. on the Friday before).

 

For Home Delivered meals, call (248) 608-0264. In addition, Meals are delivered Monday through Friday for homebound residents of the Orion area. Please call (248) 608-0264 for details and to register.

North Oakland Transportation Program (NOTA): (248) 628-7900

FREE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE for seniors, disabled adults 18 & older, and transit-dependent individuals who are residents of Addison, Orion or Oxford Townships must pre-register and be interviewed. Process can take two weeks for services to begin. Call at least 48 hours in advance. Reservations for doctor appointments will be taken up to 3 weeks in advance. Wheelchair lift available - please inform dispatcher when you call if you require facilities for the physically challenged. DISPATCH HOURS: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Mon-Fri. Services available on Saturdays for local shopping and Sundays for local church services.

Oakland County Sheriff Department

 

Cell Phone Donations:

 

Donations may be made at one of two sites (see below). Phones donated must be in good condition and include an AC/DC recharging unit. The phones will be reprogrammed and will only dial 911 emergency personnel.

Senior citizens may pick up a cell phone from the Oakland County Sheriff Dept., 1200 N. Telegraph Rd., Bldg. 38E, Pontiac, Fri, 9a-12p

Orion Senior Center is funded through the federal Older Americans Act state and tobacco funds from the Area Agency on Aging 1-B through the Offices of Services to the Aging. Orion Senior Center complies with the terms and regulations of the Title V of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended in Section 504 of the Social Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Equal opportunity employer program. Funding is also received from the Charter Township of Orion and from Community Development Block Grant funds. Reasonable accommodation will be provided upon notification or request. Donations, contributions and scholarships insure the continuation of programs and benefits to the people in our community who are age 55 and older, as well as provide for future development.

We advocate for the Orion Area senior members, their families and caregivers by collaborating and nurturing networks and relationships across institutions, agencies, and community service organizations.
