Property Tax Bills

Summer taxes are payable July 1st through September 14th without interest. Beginning September 15th, add 1% interest to unpaid balance. An additional 1% per month will be added on the first of each month thereafter. Winter taxes are payable December 1st through February 28th. Beginning March 1st all unpaid taxes are payable to the Oakland County Treasurer. Failure to receive tax bill does not waive interest.

Payment Options

Tax payments are payable at the local branches of Oxford Bank, Genisys Credit Union (formerly T&C Credit Union), Comerica-Brown Road Branch only. Lasalle Bank is no longer accepting payments.

We are now accepting E-check and credit card payments on-line or by calling 1-800-272-9829 for TAX PAYMENTS ONLY. There will be a 3% convenience charge on all credit card payments and a flat $3.00 E-check fee to be paid to the credit card company. Credit cards are NOT accepted at Township Hall.

There are two websites where you may pay your taxes online, Paylocaltaxes or Official Payments:

Electronic Payments for Taxes, Fees and Water/Sewer Bills

As part of our commitment to provide citizens with efficient, convenient service, Orion Township has partnered with Official Payments to offer payment of taxes or water/sewer bills over the Internet (see links either to left or below) and by telephone by calling 1-800-2PAY-TAXsm (1-800-272-9829). Please note - winter taxes cannot be paid on-line after February 28th. 

 

Official Payments, the service provider, charges a 3% convenience fee for processing credit/debit card payments, and a flat $3.00 convenience fee for processing e-check payments.

!!!ATTENTION!!! Make sure that the field for "Payment Entity" states "Orion, Township of" BEFORE you finish processing your payment. If you put the wrong entity in there, your payment will be delayed and could result in late fees.

 

To make a property tax payment by phone, use Jurisdiction Code 7019. At this time, you cannot pay a water/sewer bill by phone.
 

Please read the back of your tax bill for important information!

Failure to receive a tax bill does not waive interest.

Taxes are due on receipt of bill. To avoid all interest, summer taxes must be paid by September 14, and winter taxes must be paid by February 14. Beginning September 15, add 1% interest to the unpaid balance of your summer tax bill. An additional 1% per month will be added on the first of each month thereafter. Failure to receive the tax bill does not waive interest.

Summer taxes may be deferred if your 2009 total household income was less than $40,000 and you meet one of the following requirements:

  • Senior Citizen, age 62

  • Paraplegic, Quadriplegic

  • Eligible Serviceperson, Veteran, Widow or Widower

  • Blind Person

  • Totally & Permanently Disabled

Applications for deferment are available at the Treasurer's office or online at the State of Michigan website here: Application for Deferment of Summer Taxes and must be returned by September 15. You must apply for deferment every year.
 

Summer deferments do not reduce your tax bill, they only waive the interest until Feb. 28. You must meet one of the qualifications above to be eligible. You must show proof of income.

Dog licenses are available from December 1st through June 1st at the Township Hall. You must show a valid rabies vaccination certificate at time of purchase. From June 2nd through November, they are available at Oakland County. NOTE: Credit/Debit cards are not accepted at Township Hall. Fees are as follows:

Park passes are available at the Treasurer's office, and at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World at Great Lakes Crossing during regular business hours. NOTE: Credit/Debit cards are not accepted at Township Hall. The rates are as follows:

Credit Card Policy
At this time, credit/debit cards are not accepted at Township Hall. Payments must be made by cash, check or money order. However... you can now pay your property taxes and water/sewer bills only on-line by credit card or E-check. Click here for more information....

There is a drop box located in the front (road side) entrance to Township Hall. It is checked once daily, Monday through Friday, by 8:30 a.m.
